  • Neck lumps

    A lump or swelling in the neck can have many causes, from minor and temporary to those needing further evaluation.

    Worth a checkAny neck lump that is new, persistent, growing, or lasts more than two to three weeks should be assessed by a doctor.

  • Thyroid lumps

    A lump or swelling near the thyroid gland, at the front of the lower neck, is common and often benign, but should still be evaluated.

  • Salivary gland problems

    Swelling, pain, or a lump near the salivary glands, in front of the ears or under the jaw, can have several causes, including blockage or infection.

    Worth a checkPersistent swelling, pain, or a lump in this area should be evaluated.

  • Mouth or throat lesions

    Worth a checkA sore, ulcer, or white or red patch in the mouth or throat that doesn't heal within two to three weeks should be examined, especially if it persists, grows, or bleeds.
